Inspired by the refined armour of sixteenth-century Italy, this set of pauldrons reflect the elegant lines and sophisticated construction associated with the great armour-producing centres of Milan and Brescia. Italian armour of this period balanced graceful shaping with practical articulation, resulting in shoulder defences that complemented both field and ceremonial harnesses.
Each pair is handcrafted from 18-gauge mild steel and features articulated lames that follow the natural movement of the shoulder and upper arm. Designed to pair with a set of lower arms and a gorget, these pauldrons form an excellent foundation for a complete sixteenth-century harness or as a standalone addition to an existing armour collection.
Last photo shows the complete upper harness.
