Inspired by the distinctive armour of the early sixteenth century, this Maximilian-style gorget reflects the complex shaping and articulated construction associated with German Renaissance armour.
 
During the early 1500s, armourers developed this highly recognisable style featuring fluting, layered articulation, and carefully tailored transitions between individual plates.
 
This gorget is handcrafted from 20-gauge mild steel and features a three-lame floating construction, allowing the characteristic overlapping appearance seen in surviving examples of early sixteenth-century German armour. The articulated plates are individually shaped and assembled to recreate the visual language of Maximilian-era harnesses, combining strong lines with refined armourer craftsmanship.
